The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies


The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, an inter-disciplinary research centre which carries out research on key issues of contemporary European society, and brings together specialists in various fields, promoting comparative and international aspects taking into account five major research projects: Global Governance Programme; Florence School of Regulation; European Union Democracy Observatory; Migration, Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom.

The 2017 workshop was entitled "How National Referendums Are Challenging the EU". It explored what we know and what we need to know about the way in which the recent round of national referendums from Greece and Switzerland to the UK are beginning to challenge the institutions and policies of the European Union. The former FMA President Enrique Barón Crespo and Monica Baldi, FMA Board member responsible for relations with the European University Institute represented the FMA.

The 2015 seminar was entitled "Efficiency and effectiveness of the EU budget" with the presence of Commissioner Kristalina Georgevieva, Minister Pier Carlo Padoan, President Joseph Weiler, Brigid Laffan, Alfredo De Feo, and Monica Baldi representing the FMA. It was focused on how to improve the quality of expenditure for the next few years.
