Conference – Spain- University of Oviedo – Leopoldo López Gil

We are delighted to announce that our recent event in collaboration with the University of Oviedo, entitled ‘The European Pact on Migration and Asylum: Keys and Consequences’, took place on Thursday 26 September at 12:45. The keynote speaker, AAD member Leopoldo López Gil, led an enriching discussion.

The conference was part of the Faculty of Commerce’s complementary activities, specially designed for students pursuing a degree in commerce, with a focus on international trade within the European Union. Organised in Spanish, it marked the Faculty’s inaugural event for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Participants were able to explore key aspects of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum, including the content of the pact, the challenges faced during negotiations, the agreement process and the role of the European Parliament. The discussion also examined whether the Pact improves migration management or presents new challenges, with a particular focus on its implications for Spain.
