LFAEuroMUN – France – In collaboration with the Jean Monnet House

From 7-10th March 2024, the FMA in collaboration with the Jean Monnet House, organised a Model United Nation’s conference with the title “LFAEuroMUN “. The FMA send 4 Former MEPs to this event to to hold a keynotes speech on the following topics:

1. Tackling democracy in a digitalised world (debating what to do about fake news, what counts as free speech, what to do about outside interference, etc.)
   • ECOSOC COMMITTEE
2. Balancing democracy and security (where do we draw the line between security and repression)
   • POLITICAL COMMITTEE
3. The issue of corruption and the role of business in promoting human rights (debate on the role of the private sector in upholding human rights, how to limit the institutional enablers of corruption, etc.)
   • HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE
4. Strengthening democratic governance and democratic institutions (debate on supporting civil society organisations, reducing feelings of disenfranchisement, increasing accountability, etc.)
   • SPECIAL COMMITTEE

 

Three FMA Board Members have agreed to participate in this important collaboration: 1. EP to Campus coordinator Michael Hindley, FMA Vice-President Monica Baldi, FMA Board Member Godelieve Quisthoudt-Rowohl and FMA Member Julie Ward.
