"We need to be ambitious, but realistic."
On 22 April 2021, the FMA Reflection Group on the Future of the European Union composed of prestigious and experienced Former Members of the European Parliament gathered for the first time to start the discussion about the Conference on the Future of Europe. The Group welcomed the launch of the multilingual digital platform of the Conference on the Future of Europe, opening a new space for debate with the public to address Europe’s challenges and priorities, and reiterated the importance of listening to EU citizens. The Chairman of the Reflection Group and Former President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering summarised the result of the discussion: “We need to be ambitious, but realistic”.
