FMA Study Trip to Paris
September, 28-29 2023
On September 28 – 29 2023, a delegation of former members of the European Parliament from the Association of Former Members of the European Parliament (FMA), led by FMA President and former President of the European Parliament (1994 to 1997) Dr. Klaus Hänsch, will visit Paris.
It will be a special visit that will allow us to take stock of the situation considering the priorities of the French presidency of the EU indicated last year and the current ones of the Spanish Presidency.
Thanks to the availability and support of Mrs Fabienne Keller, Quaestor at the European Parliament responsible for the FMA, it will be possible to verify what the European response was to combat the health crisis, the rise of impetuous foreign powers, climate change, the energy crisis and the multiple challenges to be faced.
The programme includes meetings with representatives of the French Parliament and Government. The delegation will meet the President of Committee on European Affairs of the Senate, Mr Jean-François Rapin, the President of the French National Assembly’s European Affairs Committee, Mr Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade, and the President of the French National Assembly’s European Affairs Committee, Mr. Jean-Louis Bourlanges and Mr. Emmanuel Puisais-Jauvin, the General Secretary for European Affairs in the Council of Ministers.
Afterwards, the delegation will head to the symbolic Jean Monnet House to take part in an event entitled “Cap vers les élections européennes de 2024”. The public event will be moderated by Mr. Martí Grau Segú, Head of Department and Curator of the Maison Jean Monnet, and Ms. Debora Righetti, Public Relations Assistant at the Jean Monnet House. Students attending the event will have the chance to ask questions to former Members of Parliament about the European elections and the future of Europe.
